Boutique accommodation
in historical York
Welcome to The Purple Door!
We are a small, highly-personalised guesthouse on a beautiful avenue in the historical city of York, ten minutes’ walk from the famous Minster.
Built in 1876, this townhouse is the home of Robyn, an export from London and now happy York resident ready to share her knowledge of this lovely, compact city.
The Purple Door has just three rooms available, sleeping ten people altogether, so you can be assured of a unique stay with personal touches and dedicated treatment.
Welcome to my website, and welcome to my home!
The Servants’ Loft.
A self-contained apartment, accessed through the house. This spacious area sleeps up to six people, and has a kitchenette, ensuite shower room, and walk-in wardrobe / changing room. Privacy, comfort, and functionality, all within the comfort of a real home.
The Sidi Ifni Suite.
The luxurious option for those seeking a tranquil getaway. Come for the four-poster kingsize bed, Smart HD TV, freshly-ground coffee, and cosy Moroccan theme, but stay for the bathroom…
The Orange Room.
It’s on the second floor but worth the walk. Cosy, quirky, and colourful, the kingsize sleigh bed and roll-top clawfoot bath are designed to help you forget your troubles and wake up fresh to face the day.
