The Orange Room.

Cosy, colourful, peaceful and restorative. Who says relaxation needs to be neutral?

Walk up to the second floor and you’ll find this large, quiet, welcoming room with a king-sized bed, relaxing tree-lined view, and private access to an amazing bathroom. With Smart HD TV, super comfy mattress, and all sorts of little details to seek out, I won’t judge if you end up spending less of your holiday exploring medieval walls and more of it in the claw-foot bath. Or the marble shower. Or the sleigh bed…

A haven for couples and single travellers.

I lived in this room for 3 weeks whilst my bathroom was being repaired and I seriously considered not moving out when it was done. Well, it's hard not to love! It's absolutely silent, and the view from the bed is just trees, sky, and birds. It's so peaceful that you'll be hard-pressed to believe you're a 15-minute walk from a cathedral visited by 2 million people every year!!

Whether you plan to work, relax, or explore (or all three), I think of the orange room as a sanctuary. The only danger is that you might not want to leave!

Please note that the bathroom is technically shared, although you'll almost always be the only ones using it. The bathroom has two “Jack and Jill” doors, which means you’ll have your own private lockable entrance directly into the bathroom; no navigating an unfamiliar hallway whilst half-asleep! You'll only need to share it if I have friends or family staying in the room across the landing, and they can access the bathroom directly from the hallway. (But since most of them live hundreds of miles away in London, that doesn't happen very often!!)
